Janiya and India, pictured left, helped one other finish a long walk. They were a part of a trek team in Connecticut last year!  Teams like this, kept us inspired.

If you would like to go above and beyond to organize a trek team in your hometown, GirlTrek can help!  The season starts soon, so sign up now!

In addition to inspiring 500 solo trekkers, GirlTrek aims to support 15 trek teams this year!

Start A Trek Team Today!  It's Easy.

Starting a team is simple.  It's just a walking group of your friends or people in your neighborhood.  It can be as big or small as you want it.  It can meet as often as you decide and where ever you want.  The benefit is sisterhood and encourgement.  Over the course of our 12 week season  teams meet once or twice a month - just enough to encourage one another to meet the bigger standard when they are by themselves: walking 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week!

If you've already a trek leader and you need to UPDATE any team information, please email us.

Note:  We no longer partner with schools.  Instead we support individual women who stand up as health leaders in their families and communities.

Here are 11 more reasons women like you have started trek teams.

"I started a trek team because...

  • it was an easy way to give back!
  • the girls I know needed it.
  • I used to play outside! Why don’t kids play outside anymore?
  • it sounds like fun!
  • I'm big and I wanted girls to know that Trek Leaders come in all shapes and sizes.
  • if I didn’t, no one else would have...eek.
  • I want my community to be healthier.
  • I believe in sisterhood.
  • I asked 3 women I knew to bring their daughters.  It was an easy way to start.
  • 80% of Black women are currently overweight.
  • I want to be part of a practical solution!"
