Harriman State Park - Lake Welch Beach Trail
Lake Welch Beach In Harriman State Park, is located in the wooded hills of the Ramapo Mountains. Originally a small body of water with farmland around the edges, Lake Welch became the large lake that it is today when a dam was completed in 1942. The flat walking trail offers scenic views around the lake, and is good for ALL skill levels. The trail is 2.6 miles out and back and will take 1 - 1 1/2 hours to enjoy the views. We’ll meet in the parking lot of Grace Point Gospel Fellowship Church, 384 New Hempstead Rd, New City, NY 10956, exit 11 off of the Palisades Parkway at 8:00AM. From there we’ll hop back on the Palisades and caravan to beautiful Lake Welch. We’ll take exit 14, Willowbrook Road, left, then follow it into the Park and to Lake Welch Beach. cellular service in the park is intermittent. The forecast is partly sunny & 50’s. Dress in layers, long pants & sleeves, gloves, sturdy shoes, sunblock, water & a snack. Free parking.
