50th Annual African American Day Parade in Harlem
Join GirlTrek at the 50th Annual African American Day Parade in Harlem on Sunday September 15th! Trekkers are asked to meet at 11:45 am on our line up block W 114th Street between St. Nicholas and Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. Blvd. Look for the blue shirts and GirlTrek banner or text the contacts. Wear your superhero blue shirt, sun or rain gear depending on the weather, comfortable walking shoes, bring water, snacks and optional spending money for vendors. The parade is expected to go until 6 pm however we will not be there as long, it all depends on when it is our turn to join the parade. We will wait until it is our turn to join the parade route on the line up block. We will walk on city blocks and on city streets mostly flat and level. If you have any GirlTrek signs please bring them with you to the parade they will be returned to you at the end of the parade. Arrive camera ready, smile big and be proud! Local media broadcasting & live streaming will be taking place. There will be a point in the parade where we are on stage and announced - be ready to share GirlTrek with the World! Be sure to bring your patience (as there will be waiting times during the parade) and enthusiasm as we celebrate our African American culture, heritage & legacy as a community for the last 50 years! The parade route starts at W 111th street & Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. Blvd and proceeds north to W 136th Street. Trekkers will make a right on W. 136th Street ending on Malcolm X.
