Hey Ladies!!!! GirlTrek Montbello Community Trek
Let's get a jump on the 2019 #GirlTrek Season!
Join us every Saturday morning from 10:00 am -11:10 am at the Melvin F. Silverman Park for a fun filled ladies only "Hour of Power! We will meet at Silverman Park for an introduction to GirlTrek before taking off on a Montbello Community Trek.
No matter your ability - join us for this (my) first GirlTrek walk of the season. No one will be left behind. We will start off slow and gradually increase our walking speed as the weather gets warmer. We will definitely cover 3 miles an hour to start and eventually, we will be covering 4 miles per hour; as we get ready to join the GirlTrek National Team for a 50 mile trek over 2 days in Selma! Whether you are making this trip or not - get in on these weekly walks to build your strength and endurance. I'll share more when we meet.
Remember to always dress weather appropriate (No matter what - we walk)! Dress in several layers (cold) and backpack whatever you think you'll need to be comfortable. You must wear sneakers or hiking boots (No matter the weather). Flip flops or open toe shoes are not allowed - ever (safety reasons)! As the weather gets warmer, we will be walking to Sand Creek Regional Greenway, the Rocky Mountain Arsenal, Northfield Shopping Center or to Green Valley Ranch for some serious trekking. So get ready. Also, our walks will eventually get longer. From 1 hour to a maximum 4 hour days later this summer.
This is our day ladies! Plan to endure! You will love yourself for it.
Healthy snacks and bottle water will be available if you choose to share. If not, pack your favorite fruit, nuts, infused water, etc. and bring them along. For longer treks, we will pack our own lunch or plan to stop and purchase lunch.
GirlTrek is America's largest health movement for Black women and girls. We walk daily to save our lives from preventable heart diseases. With 137 Black women dying everyday - there is an URGENCY to start practicing daily self-care.
Please contact Pam Jiner @ 720.620.5735 if you RSVP and expect to be a few minutes late. We will leave Silverman Park promptly at 10:10 am. I hope to see you there!
