March As a Re-Enactor in the Largest U.S. Rebellion of the Enslaved
You can be one of 500 re-enactors on November 8-9, to retrace the path of the largest slave rebellion in U.S. history, and embody the facts of our resistance, our fight for freedom, and our revolutionary action. Slave Rebellion Reenactment is a community-engaged artist performance and film production that will reimagine the German Coast Uprising of 1811, which took place just outside of New Orleans.
Slave Rebellion Reenactment will re-create our ancestors' plans to organize and seize Orleans Territory, to fight not just for their own emancipation, but to end slavery, and create a new government.
Re-enactors will walk between 4 and 26 miles, over the 2-day period, ending with a celebration in Congo Square.
Attend this Artist Talk with Dread Scott at Le Musée de Free People of Color to find out more, and/or call/text me with questions.
This is open to men and women, 18 and older. You can sign up to be a Part of the Army - go to www.slave-revolt.com/join/
