WHEN AND WHERE It's time for Atlanta Streets Alive again. This one is a total of almost 10 full miles. The opening ceremonies will be held at the corner of Howell Mill and Marietta street but that is not at either "end" of the route. We can meet there for the opening ceremonies and then decide which direction to start walking. There is a Brickworks Atlanta restaurant that we can meet at. The address is 1050 Marietta St NW. If you cannot make it to the opening ceremonies, we will see you along the route. You can start at either end or anywhere in the middle. Make sure to bring plenty of water to stay hydrated. Here are the details from the website.......... On Sunday, June 9, the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition is activating our longest route yet! We're combining our Eastside and Westside routes into one slightly audacious and delightfully cohesive Atlanta Streets Alive Cross-City, activating DeKalb Avenue and Decatur Street all the way to Marietta Street and Howell Mill Road. But, wait. There's even more in store for our June activation! Not to miss out on the fun and connectivity, the City of Decatur will launch its first Open Streets by adding West Howard Avenue to the mix, bringing the newest edition of Atlanta Streets Alive to almost 10 miles. You'll be able to roll or walk all the way from Underwood Hills to Decatur! We're going to need more time for this one, so we're extending it to six hours of open streets, from 2:00pm to 8:00pm. KICKOFF PARADE The fun kicks off at the junction of Marietta Street and Howell Mill Road where you can join in the official opening of the street followed by a parade of the route. Parade lineup is at 1:30pm for a 2:00pm launch. FREE bike decorations available while supplies last! EXPLORE After the opening program and kickoff parade Downtown, make your way through 21 neighborhoods visiting Activity Partners and Route Hosts along the route for a wealth of interactive experiences hosted by community organizations, local businesses, and our sponsors. You can also enter or exit the route at any cross street anytime during the six-hour activation. Atlanta Streets Alive is FREE and FUN for all ages.
