OC Sole Sistahs Trekking Through the Wetlands
Raise your hand if you've been waiting for this walk… Well, wait no more. Join us for a 1.5 miles walk at a moderate pace along a flat dirt trail in this serene sanctuary. This is an easy trek that will take approximately 45 minutes to an hour. It is a primarily a flat hike with one slight downhill walk at the beginning of the trek.
Gear Needed: You will need is a light jacket (for the ocean breeze coming from the adjacent Bolsa Chica State Beach), a water bottle and comfortable shoes.
Facilities: There are no public restrooms. We suggest that you stop prior to arriving at the location.
THE PRESERVE: The Bolsa Chica Wetlands are remnants of a once extensive wetland system. A tributary of the Santa Ana River called Freeman Creek flowed into the wetlands, creating a mixture of fresh and saltwater marsh, tidal sloughs, and swampland that supported dense vegetation; tulles, arroyo willows and thickets. Though some parts of the preserve have restricted access, the trail is open to the public daily.
Exit the 405 Freeway at Warner Avenue. Take Warner Avenue to Bolsa Chica Street. Take Brightwater Drive. There's plenty of free parking on Brightwater Drive.
Please arrive at the walk no later than 8:45 a.m. We will do introductions, pre-walk stretches, Girl Trek talks, etc. The walk will start promptly at 9 a.m.
