Walk to End Alzheimer's® - San Fernando Valley
Walk to End Alzheimer's® - San Fernando Valley
The Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's® is the nation's largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's care, support and research. Aside from the fact that 60% of all Alzheimer’s caregivers are women, at the age of 65, women have a 1 in 6 chance of developing Alzheimer’s disease (compared to a 1 in 11 chance for men). Additionally, out of the 5 million people living with Alzheimer’s in the United States, 3.2 million are women. Twenty percent of Americans with the disease are African Americans, and yet they bear 33% of its national cost. Alzheimer’s disease is the 4th leading cause of death among older African-Americans. Today we’re walking for black women with Alzheimer’s disease, their caregivers, and their loved ones. If you or someone you know is battling Alzheimer’s disease or any other form of dementia, this walk is for you!
