#WeAreHarriet GirlTrek Overtown trek to raise awareness & heal Alzheimer's
Black women are disproportionately affected by Alzheimer’s, recent statistics say more than twice the rates of whites. This isn't surprising since some of the risk factors include amplified mental & physical stress related to the systemic racism that we face daily, high blood pressure, diabetes and the ingrained health care disparities that overwhelmingly impact us.
But on this SuperHERo Saturday morning, we're trekking to raise awareness. We are honoring all of our sisters, daughters, mamas, aunties, grandmamas and all of those who have been impacted by this disease. Including our very own SupersHERo B. Smith. We're trekking to save our collective lives...in the footsteps of Mama Harriet! Join us!
We will meet bright and early at the Lyric theater at 8am and walk over to Museum park on Biscayne. Please wear your comfortable walking shoes and make sure you're hydrated! Looking forward to seeing you! You belong here sis!
