The Ascension GirlTrekkers would love for you to join us in our 1st annual hike to explore all the wonderful outdoor spaces that exist here in Louisiana. 🥾 So, let’s dust off those hiking boots and get ready to have some fun. We will be hiking at Clark Creek/Tunica Hills at 366 FT. Adams Pond Road Woodville, MS 39669. Clark Creek is a publicly owned natural preservation area encompassing 700 acres off Mississippi Highway 24, approximately 20 miles west of Woodville, MS. This is a 2-mile trail with 3 beautiful water falls!! We should be heading back home by 12:00PM. The hike normally takes approximately 1.5 hours with stopping GirlTrek style taking pictures!! 💙Car Pool and Meet Up at Duplessis Primary School at 8:00AM. It’s 1 hour and 26 minutes from Gonzales, LA. If anyone wishing to car pool from Baton Rouge to join us we can meet you all at 8:40 AM at a place right off interstate heading towards Woodville that’s good for you all. Just let us know but we should be passing through Baton Rouge at 8:40AM 🧡Tips for hike!!! Please bring a plastic bag to put shoes that you hiked in to keep everyone's vehicle clean. Please bring flip flops or slippers or whatever shoes you want to wear on your feet for the drive home. Because of waterfalls, sand etc. it’s best to bring a extra pair of socks and shoes just in case you get a little wet. 💛Hiking Gear: Proper gear is essential in ensuring your safety and the safety of the group. Since this is a Level I day hike, you will only need to bring a few things. 🧡Hydration: Everyone must bring water (i.e., two 16.9 OZ bottles or one 32 OZ bottle at a minimum) 💛Clothing: Please wear light, breathable layers. No jeans, tennis skirts, or short shorts. Since we will be hiking in Louisiana Swamp country and mosquitoes and flies are always a possibility, it is best to wear long sleeves and long tights or hiking pants. A jacket that you can layer and wrap around your waist layer if need be. Normal Trek gear is allowed. GirlTrek shirts are always cool. I also recommend bringing a hat or scarf for head cover. 💙Footwear: Hiking shoes, boots, or tennis shoes are appropriate for this hike. Please do not wear hiking sandals, flip flops, converse sneakers, flat shoes with no traction. • Socks: Synthetic blend or merino wool socks are great for hiking. If you wear all cotton socks, please bring a spare pair, as you may need to change them if we hit any muddy or soggy areas along the trail. 🧡Day Pack: Please bring a light durable daypack, drawstring-bag or small backpack to hold your water, extra gear, medications and snacks. This is a day hike, so pack light. Snacks and Water: Please bring your favorite snacks and at least two bottles of water for the trail. Bring a plastic bag for your trash, as we will practice "Leave No Trace", in order to ensure that we preserve nature just as we find it.
