WHAT: A Black History Month campaign for #BlackGirlHealing
WHO: Powered by GirlTrek - thousands of inspired volunteers!
WHEN: February 1-28, 2016
HOW: Easy. Inspire ONE WOMAN per day to join the GirlTrek movement. You can do it! Use #28in28 to celebrate success!
INSPIRED BY: Fannie Lou Hamer BEST grassroots organizers and freedom fighters in American history! She was beaten, jailed and shot at and STILL managed to register 60,000 people to vote in Mississippi. Freedom ain't free. Under constant threat, constant stress, Fannie Lou Hamer died at age 49. Her body was riddled with disease. So THIS Black History Month, we are committing to honoring Fannie by living our healthiest, most fulfilled lives! We will not take this freedom for granted! We will not sit on the couch.
WHY: To build the biggest, baddest health movement in history for Black women.
OUR GOAL: To be 60,000 strong by the end February. ...that's 60,000 Black women activated to be change-makers in their lives and communities! One step closer to a million!
THEN WHAT? We get to work! Earn a spot in history! If YOU recruit more women in February than anyone else, GirlTrek will fly you and top organizers to Flint, Michigan to join the national staff on the front-lines in the fight for human rights and justice. THIS MARCH, the top 10 organizers will help us rally 100 local women in Flint to reclaim public parks and build powerful networks through walking teams. We will support these women - with training, GirlTrek gear and free sneakers - to organize teams, heal their bodies, build their communities and advocating for justice!
