Come Walk in the Footsteps of our Ancestors!
Join me to celebrate National Take a Hike Day with a nature walk in the footsteps of your ancestors at Memorial Park! Come hike the trails of Memorial Park while learning the history of Camp Logan a World War 1 military camp where the third battalion of the all black Twenty Forth United States Infantry served, died and were tried for mutiny.
This hike is for beginners and intermediate hikers. A short part of the hike has a slight incline and dip so you must be able to climb up and down steps and inclines. We will hike approximately 2.5 miles.
WHEN: Saturday, 11/16/2019
WHERE: Memorial Park - Picnic Area 1
*We will meet at Picnic Area 1 located at the corner of S Picnic Lane and Memorial Drive, just south of the Volleyball Courts (next to the baseball fields). Once you turn onto S Picnic Lane, look for the GirlTrek Superhero blue. NOTE: this is down the street from the running trails center.
8:00 AM - Pre-Hike warm-up
8:15 AM - Hike begins
Attire: Wear comfortable attire & closed toe shoes (hiking boots or tennis shoes). The trail can be muddy in spots especially after rain. Bring water and snacks.
Please call me with any questions!
