Celebrate National Take a Hike Day at Lake Katherine Nature Center & Botanic Gardens, an 85 acre restored natural refuge in the heart of the south west suburbs of Chicago. Lake Katherine is the place to come back to nature... Enjoy the mile loop walk around the lake and 1-2 miles of asphalt paved trails along the ridge of the Cal Sag Channel. Many of the trails are wood chip which makes for a very comfortable walking surface. There's a waterfall and several benches to take a break and take in your surroundings. Meet in the parking lot at 8:45am. Wear weather appropriate clothing with closed toe supportive footwear. Bring drinking water. Day pack is optional.
