In Harriet's Footsteps
Time to put Feet to the Pavement. Let's take a walk on the Underground Railroad, in the footsteps of our ancestors, on the anniversary Harriet Tubman's death. Let's remember and honor her commitment to freedom for herself and her people. We will meet at Princeton City Hall, 2 S. Main St., Princeton, IL Sunday March 10th, at 12:45 pm. Then walk approximately 1 mile (paved walkway) to the Lovejoy Homestead, 905 E. Peru St.. We will then tour the place where Rev. Owen Lovejoy allowed slaves to take refuge while escaping to freedom. We will walk back to Princeton City Hall. Please dress appropriately for cold weather conditions. Being mindful to protect heads, hands and feet (warmers would help).
NOTE: Princeton is approx. 2 hours from Chicago. Carpooling is encouraged. See you Sunday, March 10, 2019.
