Second Annual IDA TREK in Honor of Ida B Wells
Join GirlTrek on Saturday, July 21 at 9am, as we celebrate the life and legacy of Ida B. Wells-Barnett. She was an early champion in the civil rights movement. In the steps of our foremothers we trek to implement change beginning with ourselves and our families to sustain generational change within our society... It all begins with one courageous step after the other. We invite you to trek with us. In honor of Sister Ida's birthday (July 16, 1862) we will do our 2nd Annual commemorative trek in the historic Bronzeville community.The 3.5 mile trek will begin at 9:00am from The Art & Recreation Center at Ellis Park on 35th & Cottage Grove (in the rear entrance). Free street parking is available. Early arrival is encouraged. We will step off at 9am sharp. Don't forget your GirlTrek gear - purchase a t-shirt and get it customized representing your community at the GirlTrek online store (e.g. "South Shore Rising; Oakwood Trekkers; Bolingbrook Trail Blazers; etc.) ALL AGES & ACTIVITY LEVELS ARE WELCOME!
