Black History in Boulder
Black History in Boulder
Let's celebrate Harriet Tubman's birthday and kickoff the 2019 GirlTrek season with a history walk! Kriste Peoples will lead us on a Black History Walk in Boulder. We will learn little known stories of Black people who called Boulder home more than a century ago. We’ll talk about the cultural climate of the time and the people who lived and worked in the spaces we’ll be visiting. Our group will meet at 11am on the Pearl Street Mall, in front of the Boulder Bookstore, and we’ll will take a leisurely walk through town from there. Our distance covered will be 3-4 miles total. We’ll return to the Boulder Book Store at or near 1pm with a wealth of new curiosity and insights about a compelling facet of Boulder’s history!

We’ll start and end at the Boulder Bookstore on Pearl Street. Parking is available in the garage at 1123 Spruce Street or other nearby lots, or take the Skip bus down Broadway to meet us.

Wear your GirlTrek gear (if you have it) and comfortable shoes. Prepare for the weather by wearing layers. Remember your water!
