Let's celebrate Friendship Day, our love for nature and self-care with a sisterhood hike!
Rawhide Trail is a loop with plenty of shade and beautiful views of Denver, Golden and the surrounding mountains. The trail may be considered challenging; rocky and steep at some points and lots of flat and downhill terrain throughout the loop. The trail weaves through meadows with beautiful wildflowers and evergreen forest with great views of rolling hills and the eastern plains.
This hike is approximately 5.5 miles round trip and rated as moderate due to steep descents and inclines.
Hiking boots and trail shoes are the best footwear for this rocky terrain. Wear your GirlTrek gear if you have it. Bring at least two sources of water for those thirsty moments; snacks (fruit, trail mix, nuts, granola bars); sunscreen; sunglasses/hat/visor. There are restrooms accessible before we get on the trail. Parking and entrance into this open space is free.
**Men are not allowed on GirlTrek hikes and walks**
Getting There: Golden is less than one hour from Denver. From Denver, take I-70 west to Hwy 58 west to 93 north. Turn left (west) on Golden Gate Canyon Road. Head up the canyon and make a right onto Crawford Gulch Road. Look for the signs pointing to the park and make a right onto Belcher Hill Road. Take this road into the park and to the main parking area at the end of the road or if that is full, park at the 1st parking area, near the Belcher Hill Trailhead.
