Full Moon Hike w/Ranger Andy and #GirlTrek #OptOutside #REI #SweetwaterCreekTrekkers
Ever wanted to hike underneath a full moon? Well, this is your chance to experience a short, 1.5-mile, ranger-led hike of moderately difficulty. As people all over the nation prepare for Black Friday with shopping and spending, GirlTrek along with many other outdoor enthusiasts, will be partnering with REI to opt outside instead. Ranger Andy will guide us down to the Civil War-era textile mill ruins of New Manchester, which follows the lovely rapids (up to class IV) of Sweetwater Creek. A flashlight and sturdy, closed-toe shoes are required and, of course, GirlTrek-layered gear for cooler temps. This hike is not suitable for children under 6 or dogs. Please meet promptly inside the Welcome Center at 5:30pm. Reservations are required here, then call Sweetwater Creek State Park at (770) 732-5871 to reserve your spot with the Park. There is a nominal cost of $6 per person plus $5 parking, so carpooling is recommended.
This event is also shared as an FaceBook invite on the GirlTrek Atlanta page, so we may comment with updates up until event day. Happy Thanksgiving and I hope to see you there!
