These folks got us out here spending money we don’t have on things we don’t need all in the name of Black Friday. It’s a straight up set up and GirlTrek knows it. That’s why three years ago we decided to join the #optoutside movement by inviting women to participate in a new holiday tradition – Black Family 5Ks! That’s right, we appropriated, rebranded and flipped a corporate holiday into a pre-Kwanza lovefest. We made Black Friday the new Black Holiday by inviting families to shake off the sweet potato ‘itis, put away the credit cards, gather up all the cousins who done snuck out to “go to the store” and hit the streets of our neighborhoods for some good ole’ fashion family fun. Black Family 5K’s have become a hallmark end of year celebration in the GirlTrek movement. Hundreds of women have hosted post-Thanksgiving walks with their loved ones, and this year we are inviting you to do the same. It’s super simple and tons of fun. Everything that you need to plan yours in the next two weeks (#cpttime) Let’s change the narrative let’s walk for life during this Thanksgiving Time. Bring your Mother, Aunties, Daughters, Daughter In Laws, Nieces, Sisters, Neighbors and Friends. We will have a blast 2 lucky Trekkers will win an awesome prize.
